Biography

Chelsea Marilyn Zurflüh is the prizewinner of the renowned 78th Concours de Genève. Along with the first prize she won nine special prices which include a role in the Grand Théâtre de Genève and several other concert possibilites.

 

Chelsea Marilyn Zurflüh, Swiss Soprano with roots on the Seychelles, was a member of the International Opera Studio in Zurich in the seasons from 2021 to 2023. She has already appeared as Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro, as Zaida in Il Turco in Italia, as Atalanta in Serse and other operas on the stage of the Zurich Opera House and the Theatre Winterthur. At the Theatre Biel-Solothurn she sang the title role in the world premiere of the opera Heidi feiert Weihnachten in December 2023 written by the Swiss Composer Fabian Müller. In the summer of 2023, she successfully performed the leading role of Licori in Vivaldis La Fida Ninfa at the renowned Innsbruck Festival of Early Music. 

 

The Swiss soprano sang the role Gerhilde from Wagners The Valkyrie in the State Oper of Prague, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, in the Palace of Culture Dresden and in the Philharmonie Cologne under the baton of star conductor Kent Nagano. She also sang various concerts at places such as the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam with the Baroque Orchestra La Cetra under the baton of Andrea Marcon, the Stuttgart Liederhalle with the orchestra Il Gusto Barocco under Jörg Halubek and the Zurich Tonhalle with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Heiko Mathias Förster. 

She has worked together with conductors such as Alvetina Ioffe, Chiara Cattani, Kent Nagano, Riccardo Minasi, Chiara Cattani, Victorien Vanoosten, Vladimir Kiradjiev, Christoph König, Joseph Bastien, Kaspar Zehnder, Mladen Tarbuk, Franco Trinca und Christoph-Mathias Mueller. Constantly working on her voice.

She is prizewinner of numerous other singing competitions, including the second prize of the Otto Edelmann Competition in September 2024, the first prize at the International Haydn-Competition in Rohrau, Austria in May 2024, the second prize at the International Mozart-Competition in Salzburg in February 2023 and at the International Cesti-Competition in Innsbruck in August 2022. 

 

In June 2021 Chelsea completed her Master of Arts «Specialized Music Performance Oper» in Bern with Professor Barbara Locher.
