The New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Concerts by the Basel Symphony Orchestra promise a true champagne atmosphere. Look forward to Switzerland’s youngest soprano star, Chelsea Zurflüh! The winner of the renowned Concours de Genève reveals her full artistic versatility – from Ambroise Thomas’ brilliant virtuoso aria *Je suis Titania* to Johann Strauss’ playful and witty *Mein Herr Marquis* from *Die Fledermaus*.
Composers such as the trailblazing Ethel Smyth and Jeanine Tesori with *The Girl in 14G* add a very special touch to this New Year’s Eve celebration. Maestro Giampaolo Bisanti will also lead the orchestra through the spirited Polonaise from Tchaikovsky’s *Eugene Onegin* as well as two overtures by Rossini and Donizetti – naturally representing his native Italy!
