Two works relating to secular and spiritual themes form the program under the direction of Diego Ceretta for the Orchestra della Toscana, with which the season will conclude.
The opening piece is Richard Strauss' Metamorphosen, an elegy for 23 strings, composed in the last months of the Second World War in a compact style with strong contrapuntal density.
This will be followed by a full performance of Ludwig van Beethoven's incidental music to Egmont, inspired by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's drama and the theme of freedom versus oppression. Featuring the ORT, soprano Chelsea Zurflüh, and Peppe Servillo as narrator.
