The New Year's Eve Concerts by the Basel Symphony Orchestra promise a true champagne atmosphere. Look forward to Switzerland's youngest soprano star, Chelsea Zurflüh! The winner of the renowned Concour de Genève reveals her full artistic versatility - from Ambroise Thomas' brilliant virtuso aria "Je suis Titania" to Johann Strauss' playful and witty "Mein Herr Marquis" from Die Fledermaus.
Composers such as the trailblazig Ethel Smyth and Jeanine Tesori with "The Girl in 14G" add a very special touch to this New Year's Eve celebration. Maestro Giampaolo Bisanti will also lead the orchestra through the spirited Polonaise from Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin as well as two ouvertures by Rossini and Donizetti - naturally representing his native Italy! A diverse proggramme and exceptional musical delights are guaranteed to welcome the New Year.
